Manhattan Kickers 1 Barnstonworth Rovers F.C. 1
A last second goal for the 2nd week in a row, this time against the Rovers cost 2 valuable points and bragging rights vs rivals kickers. The Rovers helped their rivals again, finishing with 10 men. ERP Grand was bright and beautiful, ripe for a Rover romp. And the Rovers dominated the first half but without breaching the score. Pugli had a great chance inside the area, but the keeper parried and Fonzie had a shot inside the box just wide. Nessa’s header should have opened the Rover account.
The Rovers finally took the lead in a “goal of the season” Baskin left foot strike. Jordi crossed to the far edge of the box, Baskin set and unleashed a 15 yard left footed volley that thundered the upper 90. A goal worthy of 3 points in a local derby. Rovers 1-0.
Rovers were reduced to 10 men with goalkeeper Broach was sent off with a straight red card for retaliation with 30 mins to go. Kaplan come in to debut for the club. Pugli had 2 chances, one all alone with time in the box to finish the match but failed and the Kickers playing desperate football the last 15 mins got the lucky break with what was the last kick of the match in the 3rd minute of added time. A long hard cross from 35 yards found a streaking forward in the middle of the area and he one-timed it past Kaplan. Rovers 1-1 and 2 points unnecessarily lost.
