The ladies from Rovers 1 made it 4 for 4 this weekend with a
comprehensive 6-1 win over the Manhattan Kickers 1st team,
maintaining their lead in the League.
Goals by Pam Spier (x2), Laura Morrison,Jennifer North, Natalie Rud
and Susan Marshall.
R1 vs K1: 6 - 1As Shawn poetically put it "It was a beautiful day for soccer." Rovers 1 came out strong and Brynne set the tone with a killer shot that hit off the crossbar 2 min in. Taking advantage of our diamonds on the field, the defense switched the field and slotted a ball to the forwards who played it back to Laura who put the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-0. A few minutes later a cross from the midfield bounced into the box and Pam shot it over the keepers outstretched arms to make it 2-0. Natalie, up from her normal spot as sweeper, finished off the half with a perfectly placed ball right in the corner. Halftime 3-0.Jenn helped us start out the 2nd half right with a shot from the top of the box. 4-0. Next one of our wings got tackled. Susan took the free kick and found Pam's head waiting at the far post. 5 - 0. Susan finished the Kicker's off 10 minutes later to make it 6-0. Rover 1 remains undefeated!N
A local photographer had the great idea of documenting the game.
