BRFC o30's 2 Manhattan Kickers o'30s 4
well - our ridiculous Spring schedule faced us with 3 of the top 4 teams to start and let's just say we didn't exactly pass the test - more like the papers weren't even handed in!
this week it was Kickers who are by far the weaker of the playoff bound sides and we really could have had them...had it not been 90' in the shade and we had some subs ...and we weren't so lazy and unfit!
coach Ben was forced to suit up and come in for me as i'd again been unable to stop myself drinking after another 7am start the day before...this time though i was pretty convinced i was gonna die on the pitch - and we all know it's gonna be a good one when it finally happens and has to more grand than crumpling at Randalls Island.
well old Weiner hadn't been on that long when he slammed in his first goal of the season after great work by Paul....1-0 up and looking pretty good then just before the half some shoddy marking and their 7 ft striker headed home.
2nd half went a bit pear shaped and it was 4-1 before we knew it....Nick bundled home a 2nd from a great Jason free kick but we never really looked like any comeback....4-2 loss.
has to be said that the poxy looking little ref who didn't appear to speak any language allowed them a blatant offside goal and another breakaway after their striker had clearly pushed me off the ball....yes i was a little weaker than usual even but the goalscorer shook my hand laughing about how he'd got away with it at the final whistle.
oh - and our goalie wrecked his knee but had to play the whole game on 1 leg basically and little Brandon picked a fight with their 2nd biggest guy which was very amusing but i was pretty concerned for our lovely new Orange shirt which the guy ripped off him!
next week relegation battle with Guyana A and i'm away now til end of season so maybe Ben or Wisnom will thrill you with our report.
