We were originally scheduled to play a somewhat revitalized Guyana A this week but there was a late change to the lowly Guyana B who sport a -47 goal difference and 0 points from 10 games. We figured it was more a matter of how many goals we would score. Next thing, we figure it will be a forfeit since Guyana only had 6 guys show up, but alas, we wait around for a while until they can field a full squad. So in addition to the bumpy pitch, all of these factors resulted in our starting very flat while Guyana B were at the very least motivated and physical.
Long story short, we squandered numerous clear chances, one of which probably crossed the goal line but was too close to call. But we pressed and forced the issue and it wasn't until the dying minutes when Coach Daly himself scored the match winner on a diving header, perfectly connecting onto a Peter Best last gasp cross from the byline. Just before the goal, Kevin had been forced to save a high powered blast that he was only able to parry across goal where another Guyana forward intentionally handled to try to guide the ball goalwards. Otherwise, some last gasp defending from all the defenders (the newcomer Maurice Daly, Carl, Will, Dex, Robbie and Marc) enabled us to keep a clean sheet.
