Result: Firsts 3/15/09 vs Pancyprians (h)

Barnstonworth Rovers 1 Pancyprian Freedoms 4
Rovers fought but fell to the league leaders 4-1 in the early start to the spring season. The Rovers fell behind to one of the best goals they have conceded all year. Dos Santos dropped, as always, and on turn chipped the ball to the back of the Rovers defense. The Cypriot winger outpaced Randi and struck a half volley from a ridiculous angle to the opposite upper 90 side netting. Broach Jr never had a chance. Rovers 0-1.
The Rovers, who had the better of play, quickly equalized with an equally impressive manner. A neat buildup of several quick passes, through to midfield, Colin and Einar combined to release Jordi on the right. His swerving cross at the penalty spot, Pugli rose and smashed it to the roof of the net. Rovers 1-1.
2 min later, the Rovers in a carbon copy action, could have taken the lead, but this time Puglie just missed the target. It was the turning point of the match. A miscommunication between Andy and Colin led to a turnover in the Rover defensive third, and the the pancyprians pounced with another clinical finish. Rover 1-2.
In the second half, the Rovers missed another chance to bring the match level, Einar from close range. Bizzarly, another mixup in the Rover line, this time Colin striking Randi’s knee, led to a lose ball inside the area and the match was over. Rovers 1-3.
Pancyprians scored on the last kick of the match as the Rovers push forward to add insult to injury.
