BOB 2 - SC Eintracht 0
It was warm, it was sunny and it wasn’t quite as early – and we had an excellent referee – so the Old Boys dominated Eintracht to grab another 3 points. Bazza O’Driscoll returned from wherever he’s been hiding since last season, and popped up with the goals to seal the victory. The first came directly from a corner, sneaking in under the bar at the back post – nasty for the keeper. For the second, he was given too much time and space on the edge of the box, and slotted a low shot inside the right stick. One comment after the game was some might think he’s fortunate with his long-range shots, but he just keeps doing it.
At the other end, the defense was once again as solid as a very solid thing indeed, and I had another very quiet morning in goal. Just one goalmouth scramble was the only nervous moment, but Brian was in the right place at the right time and took a kick in the ass for his trouble – you can’t buy commitment like that.
We will undoubtedly encounter tougher teams along the way, but 7 points from the first four games is a good base.
DAS.
