R2D2 match report - 11/08/09 - by Nicola

LadyRovers 2 1 NY Magic 2
Not to be outdone, in its first season in the A division, Rovers 2 managed to secure a fifth place at half season. A record of 2 wins, 3 losses and one tie make up for 7 points in the table. The most remarkable part of these first 3 months has undoubtedly been the speed with which Rovers 2, with the help of a few new players, adapted to the intensity of the A division and managed to find its own pace. With only 10 goals against (4 courtesy of Rovers 1), Rovers 2 further proved to have one of the best defense in the A division and to be one of the most resilient team to count with.
Rovers 2 resilience showed against this Sunday in its game when after a very poor first half performance and being battered around the field by NY Magic, Rovers 2 equalized through Emily K on a great set piece corner kick and then went on to turn the game around entirely and dominate the second half from beginning to end. The tie would have been entirely deserved had not Magic managed to score on a counter-attack with less than 60 seconds left to play.
After its own State Cup interlude against Magic (yet again) this weekend, Rovers 2 will have a crucial game on the 22d, as taking 3 points from the Slackers would be a huge step forward in ensuring we stay in A division.
