Lady Rovers 2: 0 NY Magic 5
Rovers 2, prospects for the game looked difficult from the start as we were missing a lot of players. 3 extras for the day were however supposed to guarantee that we had a full team. That was without counting with fate. With Mary being stuck at the hospital to attend to her beau who had received a bad ice hockey blade cut in the leg and Courtney unexpectedly stuck in Long Island we ended up starting the game with 10 facing the Magic reserve in full force with 17 players in uniform.
What will be remembered at the game is first and foremost that playing 1, then 2 players down, Rovers 2 displayed incredible discipline and positioning and played one of its best defensive game of soccer ever, keeping the score to 1-0 for 70 minutes straight. Having lost Emily in goals in second half proved however too much and we finally let 4 more goals in for a 5-0 final result. All in all and considering the circumstances a game that Rovers 2 could walk out of with its head up high.
